Minus the Mask

We just finished our journey through the series I called "Minus the Mask". I think it was the series I have enjoyed preparing for and presenting more than any other. In our Community Group we have had several conversations about how refreshing it is to be at a church where we are allowed to be broken, where we can greive, and where we can walk together to change deeply, not just on the surface. There was a defining moment when people walked forward during the worship service to light a candle representing their prayers for the loss and sorrow in our lives. We all hurt so deeply. God wants to embrace us in our sorrow. I'm glad to be part of a church where we can share our pain and walk together. I hope you enjoyed the series as well.

Special props to Samantha Bird who willingly lent us her artistic gifts to paint the masks as we walked through this series.

If you would like to study more on these themes I would recommend the books The Emotionally Healthy Church and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero. His thoughts we very helpful to me as I studied for these messages.

Good one

This series effected me a lot. It was so convicting yet I feel like I have so much to do to get closer to how God wants me to be, breaking down these masks that hinder true joy and peace. I love Crossroads and love that I can take the journey in a community that is safe, real and willing to journey with me.
