Thoughts on life, service and leadership.

Okay, I admit it. I wrote the following when I was in a bad mood. Actually, a friend of mine was dealing with some unjust criticism. So I guess it's more accurate to say that I was feeling defensive for someone I cared about than I was in a bad mood. But I think there is some wisdom here. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Leadership is…

• Being able to be openly criticized, but never being able to respond. (Mark 14:60,61)

• Having all the actions of your followers and family be a direct reflection of your effectiveness. (Matthew 9:14; Matthew 12:2; Matthew 15:2; Mark 7:5; Luke 19:39)

• Having people take everything that you have to offer and then leave disgruntled when you have nothing more to give. (John 6:5-27 )

• Not having the freedom to think only about your own spiritual walk. (Matthew 16:5-11)

• Giving up rights to privacy. (Matthew 14:9-14) • Having conversations end when you arrive. (Mark 9:33-34)

• Being put on a pedestal that is beyond any reasonable expectation. (Matthew 11:16-19)

• Feeling alone around the people you serve. (Matthew 26:31-45)

• Not being permitted to have a bad mood, while you must patiently endure everyone else’s. (John 11:32-37)

• Having someone you’ve poured your life into casually reject everything you believe in (Luke 22:47-48)

• Walking as Christ walked.
